Bumblebee 3D Movie Review

Bumblebee 3D Movie Review

3D

The 3D looks dazzling in this movie. This movie has some mighty impressive 3D imagery. The movie has incredible 3D depth and pop outs. This film has one stunning 3D scene after another. The movie opens on the Transformers home planet Cybertron and it looks beautiful in 3D.  Another scene with reflections on a window in the Sector 7's base is especially strong in 3D. Finally, one scene inside the video game Pong is especially interesting to see in 3D. There was one scene that didn't work in 3D, an establishing shot of the full moon in the night sky. The moon was completely flat, and it was jarring to see it in 3D. Besides that moment, everything 3D related is stellar. Travis Knight knocked it out the park regarding the 3D element of this movie. The 3D aspect of Bumblebee is very strong, and I can highly recommend it.

Final Verdict: Great 3D

Movie

Bumblebee is the sixth film in the TRANSFORMERS film franchise, and the first to not be directed by Michael Bay. It is also, by far, the best movie in this franchise.

Travis Knight, Laika CEO, directing his first live-action movie, knocks this out of the park. Bumblebee functions as an origin story, a prequel and a reboot, while offering up a heartwarming story of a teenage girl and her robot. The movie is set in 1987, and the character of Optimus Prime sends B-127 (Bumblebee) to Earth to set up an operations base for the Autobots in their ongoing war with the Decepticons. B-127 is eventually found by 18-year-old girl named Charlie. Charlie is a car mechanic who repairs B-127 and renames him Bumblebee. Fans of the franchise will find many of first generation Transformers Easter eggs in this movie. The movie has a fantastic soundtrack with many deep cuts from the 1980’s. The movie has many great action set pieces and is a blast to watch. The movie can be too corny at times. Bumblebee is a great movie and I can highly recommend it.

Bumblebee is throwback to the 1980s family sci-fi/action-adventure movies, like, “The Goonies”, “E.T”., “Gremlins”, etc. It's as heartfelt as it is nostalgic.

Final Verdict: 8/10
