Sing 2 3D Movie Review

Sing 2

3D Movie Review

The 3D aspect of Sing 2 is nice but its wildly inconsistent. Some moments the 3D looks fairly flat and is not noticeable. In some scenes the 3D is really played up and it’s very fun. The various animal snouts are especially prominent in 3D. The main villain of the movie likes to get up in the camera (your face) and that works especially well in 3D. At times you will have some fun moments with confetti or water spraying at the screen and it pops out. The scene where Miss Crawly (The elderly lizard) visits the house of Clay Calloway (The singing lion) is especially strong in 3D. The first few minutes of the end credits are also very fun to watch in 3D. Some scenes where characters jump from tall locations use 3D depth in effective ways to draw you more into the scene. Sing 2 has both some noteworthy scenes, but most of the movie is just ok to watch in 3D. Overall I do think the 3D in Sing 2 is worthwhile, but just be aware that it comes and goes throughout the movie.

Final Verdict: Good 3D

Movie

Sing 2 is a light animated movie that is both enjoyable and forgettable.

Sing 2 is the sequel to the original Sing (2016) animated movie, but its fairly self contained. If you never watched the first Sing movie you can watch this movie without much difficulty. The movie does assume that you remember the characters from the first film, but its all fairly easy to follow even for newcomers. You might miss some details about the characters and their background but you should be fine to watch this movie.

Sing 2 starts sometime after the events of the first movie. Buster Moon’s theatre is now doing well, but he still dreams of making it big. Buster gets his chance and is given three weeks to put up a big new play to prove himself worthy of being in the big leagues. Several problems occur that have the potential to derail the play. Can Buster solve all the various problems and make the play work? Well you have to watch the movie to find out.

Sing 2 is a solid movie that has many issues. The story is fairly predicable and is straight forward. The movie has too many subplots that are solved too easily. It’s just so easy and convenient and basic. Sing 2 doesn’t try to be deep or unique in any way. It’s a light hearted inoffensive animated family movie about singing animals. The songs are well sung and it is very entertaining for what it is but it’s far from high art or anything of substance. Sing 2 is a decent family movie that is something that you will enjoy as you watch it, but will probably forget about it a few days later. Parents don’t worry this movie is not grating or too frantic.

Sing 2 is a perfectly adequate uninspired animated movie. It is fast paced enough that the kids won’t be bored, and it has enough jokes and great pop song performances to keep it fun for the entire family.

Final Verdict: 6 /10

Trolls World Tour 2D Movie Review

Trolls World Tour 2D Movie Review

Written By: Adolph Vega

3D

Due to the covid 19 (coronavirus ) this movie was not given a 3D theatrical release. This review is based on the 2D version watched via Vudu (it available from other websites too). No 3D version is available to the public. Currently at this time we don’t know if Trolls World Tour will eventually get a 3D release of some sorts. (Blu-ray or Digital) Since we were not able to see this movie in 3D we have no choice but to give this movie the NO 3D Available score.

Final Verdict:

NO 3D AVAILABLE

Update ( April 13th 2020 ):

A 3D Blu-ray of Trolls World Tour is available to preorder at Zavvi .

Movie

Meh.
Trolls World Tour (2020)
is the sequel to the 2016 Trolls movie. I actually found World Tour to be a worse movie than the original.

This movie is focused on music genres and one group (rockers) who are trying to take over all the troll world. Trolls World Tour is a simple kids animated movie. I didn’t hate this movie , I didn’t love this movie either. This movie is fairly self contained so you can watch it without watching the original and not be entirely lost. The best parts of this movie were ruined by the trailers. This movie is super basic and cliche. Trolls World Tour is a totally forgettable movie. I had some enjoyment from this movie but not enough to recommend.

Trolls World Tour is an early contender for worst movie of 2020. In fairness this is only the second new movie that I have seen in 2020 (Onward was the other new movie). Trolls World Tour is an uninspired sequel that doesn’t justify its existence. Its premise feels forced and its essentially an over simplified copy of Avengers Endgame/ Infinity War. Quality filming was not a priority when making this movie, it was made to sell toys , music and other trolls related merchandise. Mediocre is probably the best word to describe Trolls World Tour. I have seen worse movies and better movies and this is just sorta in the middle.

Final Verdict: 5/10

Minions Review

Minions

3D Movie Review

Written By: Adolph Vega

3D

The movie starts with some strong stereoscopic 3D visuals as you see the minions evolve in the ocean.  This opening scene looks great and gives you a nice sense of immersion as if you are looking into a virtual aquarium.  After this point the 3D visuals look nice but are hardly noticeable except for some random particle effects and debris flying out of the screen.  Overall the visuals look sharp and nice in 3D but are mostly forgettable except for a few key scenes.

Final Verdict: Good 3D

Movie

Before I begin this review I must confess that I have never seen any of the “Despicable Me” movies.  So I go into this movie franchise as a total outsider.  This movie is essentially the origin story of the Minions and essentially sets up the other two previous movies. The minions are a species of yellow creatures that have been around for millions of years. They are not happy living on their own and must be dominated and controlled by a boss character. The minions don’t speak in English or any language. They speak in a gibberish language that sometimes uses pieces of English and Spanish. The main story revolves around three minions (Kevin, Bob and Stuart) who seek out a new boss for the group. The three main minions eventually find a female villain named Scarlet Overkill; will she be a suitable boss for the minions?  I understand that this movie is made for children, but I feel like they really didn’t do much for adults to enjoy. The movie is mostly a comedy with a few action scenes tossed in for good measure. The comedy is slapstick and silly and fairly basic. Since the minion’s don’t talk, a narrator occasionally comes in to help guide the audience, but most of the time the minions are pantomiming. I found the movie entertaining but very strait forward with no depth or real character development. The movie never attempts to be anything more than just children’s entertainment and is not special in any way. All the voice acting is adequate and the animation is nice, but nothing is remarkable. The one aspect of the movie that was interesting was that it’s set in the 1960’s and most animated movies are not set in that time period. People often ask critics which is harder to review, the bad films or the good ones, and I say it’s neither. The hardest movies to review are the ones that are mediocre. I am literally so-so on this movie and found it totally forgettable but not unbearable to watch. At the very least this movie doesn’t seem cliché and is watchable to the adults who take their children to watch it, but I can’t fully recommend it or fully attack it.

Final Verdict: 5 / 10
