Fall movie season is here. What 3D Movies are releasing in the autumn / fall of 2021 ? Well this preview will give you all the details. This preview also wraps up all the remaining 3D releases for 2021. We also talk about upcoming streaming and 2D only movies and tv shows too.
Some Caveats…
The various movie release dates below are subject to change at any time. Furthermore 3D releases may vary between the various regions around the world. Some movies may only release in 3D in locations outside of the United States and vice versa. Even if a specific movie does have a 3D version available your local theaters may decide to not have 3D screenings or to have very limited showings. The Covid-19 pandemic is ongoing and your local theaters may or may not be open or have limited hours. COVID-19 is the biggest wild card in 2021 and it may cause more delays or more limited region specific 3D releases. The worldwide movie business model is currently in flux as many different nations handle the pandemic differently. Decisions on the 3D and 2D release of certain films may not be decided until days before its release. We are not 100% confident that all these movies below will be released in 3D. Since we are not 100% confident that every movie on this list will release in 3D we created a basic probability scale.

Probability rates and release dates are only based for the United States 🇺🇸. It is extremely difficult to know if X movie will release in 3D and 2D in Y nation so we limited it to the United States since that is where the vast majority of the clicks to 3Dor2D originate from.

We now feel comfortable saying that the Addams Family 2 is not a 3D Movie. Maybe it will get a 3D release outside of the United States but that will probably be limited to a few select markets. If that happens we don’t have any clue which markets that would be and when. We have attempted to buy tickets for this movie but no 3D screenings are available. The second trailer does not mention 3D and we have no indication that this movie will be released in 3D based on the various marketing items for this movie. Sony has a great track record of releasing its blockbuster movies in 3D. The previous Ghostbusters movie (Ghostbusters Answer the Call ) released in 3D so we suspect that this will follow suit. Sony has a great track record of releasing its big action movies in 3D. Almost all of the previous Resident Evil movies have released in 3D. We think this has a very good chance to get 3D release. This movie looks fairly low budget compared to the previous live action movies so that might be indication that it will not release in 3D. It’s also R rated and sadly very few R rated movies get 3D release.

We would be shocked if Spider-Man No Way Home released in 2D only. Essentially all of the recent Marvel Studios and Sony superhero movies have released in 3D. Currently Spider-Man No Way Home is not confirmed to release in 3D so that’s why its “high probability'“.

WB has a mixed track record with releasing its major releases in 3D in 2021. This movie defineitly has potential for awesome 3D visuals. Rated R movies are also rare to get 3D releases. The poster, the website and the trailer don’t mention 3D. Currently we don’t think that Matrix Resurrections will be a 3D movie, but we might get lucky and get a 3D release.
