3D

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness not only has the best 3D in any Marvel movie, it's probably has the best 3D in the modern era. Doctor Strange 2 has incredible depth, and a great amount of pop-outs. The 3D in this movie is far deeper than what is normally seen in other modern 3D conversions. Not only does the depth look great, there is zero eye strain. There are several highlights that really showcase the 3D effects like: the eyeball scene, the various weather scenes, the music magic  scene, the multiversal jumps, and the scenes with the Illuminati. To say anymore would be major spoilers. The 3D in this film is stellar from beginning to the post credit scene. Speaking of which that post credit is one of the funniest since Ferris Bueller's Day Off. How the camera is presented also works to enhance the 3D effects. Like the first Doctor Strange movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a must see in 3D.

Final Verdict: Great 3D , Editors Choice

Movie

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a straight up horror movie, more than it is another MCU super-hero flick. This is a lot more Sam Raimi Evil Dead / Army Of Darkness than Sam Raimi Spider-man, and I am so here for it. I really need to warn people that the imagery, gore and violence really push the PG-13 rating. Small children and the squeamish might have nightmares after seeing this movie.

Even though, the ad campaign spoiled some aspects of this movie we still have plenty of surprises. The movie pretty much gets right to it, and it barely recaps the previous events in the MCU . Doctor Strange does a good amount of exposition. Multiverse of Madness basically is the fifth chapter of the Strange's saga (Doctor Strange , Avengers Infinity War / Avengers End Game / Spider-Man No Way Home and this movie), and it assumes that you have seen everything else beforehand. Depending on your interpretation of the events of Spiderman: No Way Home and WandaVision you might have issues with some of the plotting and storyline of this movie. If you haven't seen that content, you'll be able to follow the story with the smart exposition dumps giving you the necessary character development and background. Multiverse of Madness moves at a break neck pace never slowing down to give you a chance to process what you just saw. That really helps keeping the fear factor up during the movie but it’s a little much m. The movies sense of humor here and it breaks the tension.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is one fascinating frightening fun film. It’s a little too fast paced,  but overall Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is one great superhero movie.

Final Verdict: 8/10

The Eternals 3D Movie Review

The Eternals 3D Movie Review

Written By: Jake Jarvis

3D

The 3D in The Eternals is very well done. This is all the more surprising because of all the darkly lit scenes in the movie. They all pop out properly and offer a great amount of depth. Scenes where various Eternals use their powers (especially flying) are breathtaking in 3D. Stand out 3D scenes include: a Bollywood musical number, a deviant battle sequence involving splashing water, and the active volcano scene. The 3D greatly adds to the beautiful cinematography and scenery of The Eternals. I definitely recommend watching The Eternals in 3D.

Final Verdict: Great 3D

Movie

The Eternals is not like most other Marvel cinematic universe movies. This is both a good and bad thing. Like, the original comic book source material created by Jack Kirby, this movie isn't for everyone, but in reality what movie is?

The Eternals is a super-hero drama told through the mythology of gods of various cultures through out time. The Eternals is part 2001: A Space Odyssey, a family drama and a mystery more than it's a typical super-hero movie. I really enjoyed the dialogue scenes, and to a lesser degree, the exposition. The film puts pop music to good use. Not as good as James Gunn did in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, but Chloe Zhao's film still was solid with the tunes. Who can hate on Pink Floyd? The cast really sold their various characters and their opinions on the various conflicts that have developed between these characters. Kumail Nanjiani steals nearly every scene he's in as Kingo. Kingo’s assistant, Karun (Harish Patel) was an awesomely hilarious sidekick without being a stereotype. Kit Harrington is barely in the film, but he sells the Dane Whitman character and love interest of Sersi with what little screen time that he had. The Eternals is everything I wanted from Captain Marvel and The Inhuman Marvel properties, until the third act. Unfortunately, in the third act the movie falls apart. The movie ends with many questions being ignored rather than just being unanswered. Be sure to wait around for the mid-credit and post-credit scenes as they leave you with many more questions to ponder.

The Eternals is not a perfect film, but it is a perfectly good way to scratch that Marvel movie/Super-hero film itch.

Final Verdict: 7/10

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 3D Movie Review

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 3D Movie Review

Written By: Jake Jarvis

3D

Wow is the best word to describe the mind blowing 3D conversion of Shang-Chi. The half a dozen fight scenes look spectacular with many pop outs and great depth. The bus sequence is jaw droopingly beautiful in 3D. The bamboo maze is stunning to see in 3D. The skyscraper action scene in the scaffolding has incredible depth. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a must see in 3D. If you watch this movie in 2D you might loose half of your potential enjoyment of this movie.

Final Verdict:

Great 3D - Editors Choice

Movie

Shang-Chi is one the best hollywood martial arts movies since Enter the Dragon.

I love the excellent cast in this movie. Simu Liu who is best known for his role in the 2016 sitcom Kim's Convenience portrays Shang-Chi. Awkwafina is Katy, the humorous female friend and is sorta the side kick of Shang-Chi. Awkwafina's performance is really good, and it is great seeing her kick ass and be worthy of joining in on the action. Michelle Yeoh is almost wasted this movie as she is given a very small role as Ying Nan. The role of Ying Nan is small, but she makes this small part interesting. Tony Leung portrays Xu Wenwu, the heart and soul of this movie. His tragic arc moves the story forward and gives this film its bite between the fight scenes. The film has a lot of great cameos and small roles from the previous Marvel films. The entire cast is top notch and they work together to build a fantastic narrative.

Shang-Chi is a new exciting corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The fights in Shang-Chi are top notch. Shang Chi is one of the last movies choreographed by the great Brad Allen. Sadly Brad Allen passed away in August of 2021. The martial arts action pops off the screen both visually because of the excellent 3D visuals, and because of the excellent fight choreography.

The story of Shang-Chi is pretty interesting. Shang-Chi is living in modern day San Fransisco and he decides to return to china to investigate a mysterious letter that he received. In china Shang-Chi discovers his mystical heritage. Many of the important scenes are subtitled and take place in flash backs. I loved the story in this film and I don’t want to spoil anything by providing any further details. Please remember to stick around after the film ends for one mid credits and one post credits scene. Both scenes are interesting and set things up for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This movie both feels like the tried and true Marvel formula and is something new and different.

Shang-Chi delivers in both action and intriguing story. Don’t miss this movie!

Final Verdict: 10/10
